Our fairy was created from partnering a circle skirt with a boned bodice in a matching pink fabric. This allowed the model to have an ease of movement but also allowed for a differentiation of heaviness in the embellishment with light butterflies decorating the skirt and a heavier flower motif added to the neckline of the bodice.
The wings were created from acetate and wire to give the iridescent sheen that changes in light from different angles as well as the structure to withstand the elements.
These wings could be a perfect addition to an alternative wedding!
The Junior Aviator commission came from a family who frequented the Whitby Steampunk Festival and required an outfit for their son. Here at G Hughs & Son we created the entire outfit including everything from undershirt (complete with dragon embroidery) to flying helmet and steam powered jet pack.
All clothing items were made using the best quality cotton or wool and the props were crafted using a variety of miscellaneous items and then sprayed and altered in order to give the desired result: which we think was really effective!
As well as children's steampunk costumes we can also create a variety of adult's steam punk items including everything from corsets, to hats to jackets.
